Background census (1991-2011)

In 1991 when national census were released , there was reduction in female population of certain Indian states. The reason behind reduction was dowry system of India , preferences for sons  and lack of awareness among the people. In India pressure for parents to provide large dowries for their daughters  is most acute in  certain states of India. In current census 2011 the reduction in the female population of certain Indian states continues to worsen between age 0-6 year with 919 .The declining of child sex ration is major indicator of woman disempowerment. Discrimination with woman begin before birth and continues in various form after birth -not fulfilling girls education and health -.

In India sex selective elimination of the feamle foetus skewed sex ratio. According to census data, the child sex Ratio (0-6 years) in India was 927 girls per 1,000 boys in 2001, which dropped drastically to 918  girls for every 1,000 boys in 2011.
