Tennis Player Novak Djokovic appointed as Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF

UNICEF appointed Novak Djokovic , the world’s top ranked tennis player , as the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on 26 August 2015 , after having served as the UNICEF’s Serbia Ambassador.
In 2011 Novak was appointed as UNICEF Serbia Ambassador .Since then , he has been supporting to improve the lives of children with a particular focus on the importance of early childhood education. He has been working for improving the lives of children, especially those who are amongst the most marginalized. Djokovic’s commitment to children’s issues let UNICEF invited him to become a Goodwill Ambassador. He already made a many positive difference in the lives of many children.
On 26 August 2015 , Djokovic has joined other accomplished and commited UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors including Danny Kaye,Harry Belafonte, Orlando Bloom, Audrey Hepburn, Harry Belafonte, Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry,David Beckham, Sir Roger Moore, Shakira, Maxim Vengerov, Serena Williams and others.
On 26 August 2015 , Djokovic Novak also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the World Bank and the Novak Djokovic Foundation to promote early childhood development. United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Novak Djokovic Foundation have established a cooperation on bringing early childhood services to every child and familiy in Serbia
He is one of the most dominant players to ever set foot on a tennis court. To date, Djokovic has won a total of 54 career titles, including 9 Grand Slams, and he was a Medallist at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Novak Djokovic's contributions to UNICEF
Since he was appointed a UNICEF Serbia Ambassador , he has been helping UNICEF provide quality early care and development to most vulnerable childrens . He has been lending his support to improving the lives of children, with a particular focus on early childhood education and development in providing children with the best start to life.Novak has made a positive difference in the lives of many children, not only as a powerful role model but also as a strong advocate for their rights.
He as a UNICEF Serbia Ambassador has visited preschools and kindergartens in Serbia to investing in learning at an early age. He and his Novak Djokovic Foundation has helped create more flexible and high quality pre-school education programmes for some of Serbia’s most vulnerable children.The Novak Djokovic Foundation also funded UNICEF Serbia’s innovative family outreach service aimed at connecting with families living in urban areas, which was so successful. UNICEF Serbia’s innovative family outreach service has now been integrated into the Serbian child protection system.
During the floods in the Balkans in 2014, Novak made donations to UNICEF to help with the emergency aid efforts.He and UNIQLO together supported the Schools for Asia initiative in Bangladesh, China and the Philippines as poverty reduction projects in Serbia.
