Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam

Like Indian Administrator Services , the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination is also conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit the candidates into the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force Academy and Officers Training Academy. The Union Public Service Commission conducts Combined Defence Services Exam twise a year. The UPSC announce the notification of the CDS exam in the month of October and June respectively every year. The Combined Defence Services Exam conducts twise a year in the month of February and November respectively.

Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam
The Combined Defence Services Exam is Entrance exam for getting into Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA). Only unmarried and graduate candidates are allowed to fill the application form and sit for CDS Examination. Candidates whosoever cleared the first phase of CDS exam are invited by the Services Selection Board (SSB) for the Interview.

Eligibility For Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam

Indian Military Academy (IMA) / Officers Training Academy (OTA) : For IMA / OTA , You must have a degree in any decipline from a recognized university. You must have Provisional mark sheet at time of Inteviews.
Air Force Academy (AFA) : For AFA , You must have a degree from a recognised University with Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)/Bachelor of Engineering(B.E.) Degree.

Indian Naval Academy (INA) : For INA , You must have Bachelor of science(B.Sc.) with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)/Bachelor of Engineering(B.E.) Degree from a recognized university.

Notification Date: 16 July , 2016
Last Date to Apply: 12 August , 2016 
CDS Exam Date: 23 October , 2016

Age For Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam

Officers Training Academy (OTA) : For OTA, Candidates age should be between 19 to 25 years old.
Indian Military Academy (IMA) : For IMA, Candidates age should be between 19 to 24 years old .

Air Force Academy (AFA) : For AFA, Candidates age should be between 19 to 23 years old.

Indian Naval Academy (INA) : For INA, Candidates age should be between 19 to 22 years old.

Exam Pattern For Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam

The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam Comprise of three paper of 100 marks each. Candidates gets only two hour for each paper which consist of 120 questions. There is negative marking for each wrong answer.The Elementary Mathematics is not required for those candidates who are attempting CDS exam for Officers Training Academy (OTA).
