Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination

The Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The UPSC conducts CMS examination for recruitment of Medical Officer in various organizations such as the Indian Ordnance Factories and Indian Railways functioning under the Government of India. The Combined Medical Services is computer based medical examination to recruit Assistant Medical officers in organizations of Indian Government.

Notification Date: 5 March, 2016
Last Date to Apply: 1 April, 2016
CMS Exam Date: 12 June, 2016

Eligibility Criteria For Combined Medical Services” (CMS) Examination


Educational Qualification For CMS Exam : Candidate should have M.B.B.S degree for appearing in Combined Medical Services Examination.
Candidates who are appearing in the final year of MBBS Examination are also eligible to apply for CMS Exam.

Those candidates who qualifies first phase of exam are required to submit a proof of passing MBBS Examination along with marksheets.

If candidate has to complete the internship for MBBS examination then after being selected for CMS then candidate will be appointed only after completion of internship.

Age Limit For Combined Medical Services” (CMS) Examination

Age Limit for CMS Exam : Candidates age should be below 32 year as on 1 January of year of Exam.
Age relaxation for SC/ST/OB and other categories are also available as notified by Govt of India.

Computer Based Test of CMS Exam

The UPSC used to conuducts Combined Medical Services Examination for two objective type till 2013.From 2014 , the UPSC decided to conducts CMS exam via computer based mode.

Pattern For CMS Exam


The Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination has two paper.The both paper of CMS Exam comprise of two object type question paper of 400 marks. This papers is computer based test. Candidates has to appear for CMS Exam and has to get minimum marks for passing CMS exam to get called for Interview.
